Preliminary plans were developed for the Plant Riverside site as a Grand Bohemian Hotel at the historic Power Plant, serving as the anchor for a $100 million-plus redevelopment of the waterfront property at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and River Street.
The proposed 160-room Grand Bohemian Hotel would be integrated into the preserved power plant structure and include a café, restaurant and bar, a 3,500-seat ballroom, a 3,000-square-foot art gallery, and additional upscale retail offerings.
As part of the broader site plan, Kessler proposed a combination exhibition hall and parking garage to the west of the power plant along the riverfront.
To the east, a cleared parcel—formerly home to the transformer farm—would initially be transformed into a landscaped grass plaza, reserved for future development.
